World Series Game 7 Captures Over 50 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The exciting extended clash where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51M viewers in the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this marks the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest drew over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic game after the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game landed in 13th place.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game averaged 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English program in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-match World Series averaged 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership reached 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million viewers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since 2017.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
